Driving to Big Love
The drive to Big Love takes in some beautiful scenery whichever way you come (the A470 over the Brecon Beacons is particularly lovely, but drive carefully). Suggested directions are below. If you are driving and have space in your car, please offer someone a lift on Go Car Share – it’s good for the planet and they can chip in with petrol money.
From London by car
Coming from London, you have 2 main options – head up the M40 to J8 and cut across country, or head west on the M4 and turn off at Swindon or Monmouth/Newport. The jury is still out on this one…
M40 Option: Take the M40 to Oxford, leaving at Junction 8 and taking the A40 through Cheltenham and Gloucester to Ross-on-Wye. Take the A49 to Hereford, and follow the A438 Brecon road to Clyro.
M4 Option: see the route from Bristol below.
From Bristol by car
Take the M4 westbound across the Severn Bridge, leaving at Junction 24 and follow signs for Monmouth onto the A40 to Abergavenny and Crickhowell. Turn onto A479 Builth Wells road to Talgarth. Follow signs for Hereford on the A4078, turning onto the A438 at Glasbury to Clyro.
From Birmingham by car
Take the M5 southbound, leaving at Junction 7 for Worcester. Follow signs for Hereford on the A4103 then follow the A438 Brecon road to Clyro.
From Cardiff by car
Leave the M4 at Junction 32 and take the A470 via Merthyr Tydfil and Brecon, turning on to the A438 Hereford road at Glasbury to Clyro.
