We’re running out of time to save the planet, and we all need to make some major and small changes to our lifestyles. That doesn’t mean we can’t have a fabulous, fun weekend in the country, but we want to reduce the environmental footprint of Big Love as much as possible.
What we’re doing
We’re reducing plastics use on site in general and:
We’re introducing re-usable cups on site. And they’re so funky you’ll want to take them and treasure them!
We’ve banned single-use plastics from the food vendors.
We’re banning plastic-based glitter.
The local council aren’t very helpful when it comes to recycling, but we’ll be recycling as much as we possibly can (at considerable additional cost, so help us out by buying more cocktails!).
One of the main reasons we moved the festival date was to avoid the bank holiday weekend. Public transport in the part of the world isn’t great at the best of times, but there were no buses at all on the bank holiday Monday when the festival finished. Now we’re a month later, at least getting home by public transport is an option.
What you can do
Reduce, re-use and recycle, in that order.
Buy one of our re-usable cups, or bring your own cup, and re-use them.
We made a good start in 2019, but for 2020 we want to really smash it. Let us know your practical ideas and check back for some serious schemes we’re implementing for 2020.
