Technotronic first stormed the charts worldwide with ‘Pump Up The Jam’ in 1989. They helped to take the sound of ‘hip-house’ around the globe and became huge ambassadors for house music in various countries. Their album of the same name and especially their follow up single ‘This Beat Is Technotronic’ introduced the third member of the group, Cardiff rapper and producer MC Eric.
In 1990 they performed on Saturday Night Live, The Arsenio Hall Show, and It’s Showtime at the Apollo, and also opened for Madonna on her Blond Ambition World Tour. Further singles such as ‘Get Up! (Before the Night Is Over)’ and ‘Rockin’ Over the Beat’ were also huge hits.
Eventually Eric would leave to concentrate on his Me One project, which saw him working with the likes of The Roots, Guru from Gang Starr, Lynden David Hall and the guitar legend Jeff Beck. However he’s back with a brand new Technotronic show that he’s been touring around the world. We are excited to have him at Big Love for a special homecoming performance.
