2016 marked Big Love Festival’s first year after the success we’d previously had with Troyfest. The inaugural Big Love Festival included acts like the amazing Ibibio Sound Machine, Andy Cooper of Ugly Duckling fame rapping (with backing by DJ Moneyshot of The Allergies), Wrongtom & The Ragga Twins. Beans on Toast memorably shared a very large bottle of JD with all the audience, and Soom T & Jstar performed a cracking set.
We welcomed grime artist Afrikan Boy, nu-soul singer Jodie Abacus, and even a full orchestra on stage for a Bowie tribute!
Local band Johnny Cage & The Voodoogroove blew everyone away with a wild performance, and we showcased emerging musical talent Castle, Danielle Lewis and Roughion on our BBC Horizons stage.
We also showcased work by some up-and-coming talent, like violinist Mike Dennis, curated by Cardiff venues Club Ifor Bach and Gwdihw.
