Everyone on the Big Love team was devastated to hear that our dear friend and teammate ‘Big’ Scott Travers had passed away at the start of this week.

Even if you didn’t know Big Scott personally, you’d probably seen him working the sound desk at our First Love stage, or striding round the festival with a friendly grin on his face.

Scott had been with Big Love from the very beginning, talent scouting throughout the year and helping to shape our platform for emerging musicians.

Big Scott was a very well respected figure in the South Wales music scene, with a great ear for talent across an incredibly wide range of genres. Over the years he had supported so many fantastic artists through his radio shows and live events, and we were delighted when he got on board with the festival in 2016.

We shared a vision of exposing people to new music through a small, independent festival, and Scott went on to programme our ‘First Love’ stage, showcasing some amazing original grassroots music.

His passion for supporting new musicians was matched by his kindness and generosity of spirit. A lovelier person you couldn’t hope to meet.

Even in his final few weeks, rather than taking it easy, Scott was busy making sure plans were in place for next year’s festival, suggesting artists to book and arranging for a team to continue his work into the future.

We were so pleased that we got to party with him and his daughter one last time in July.

Big Scott is an irreplaceable figure, and he’ll always be a big part of Big Love. We’ve lost a core member of the team, but most of all we’ve lost a dear, dear friend.

Everyone on the team sends their love to Lydia, his family and loved ones.

We were blessed to have you in our lives, and we’ll miss you mate x
