Big Love Festival – the small festival with a big heart – returns to Usk, South Wales in July 2023 and brings with it another amazing festival theme to the party.
Fancy dress is part of our culture at Big Love Festival.
Every year, you wow us with your epic festival outfits; from glitzy party clothes to imaginative fancy dress. Big Love Festival 2022 was no different – we took to our new home in Usk, Wales with a fitting Go Wild theme. In years before that, themes have included Peace & Big Love and Mother Nature – and you lovely Big Lovers have met brief with gusto!

This year, we need you to embrace that inner wild child and free your spirit once more with the theme – Carnival of Colour! It’s all about the dazzle – patterns, colours, shapes… and tassels on everything. Don all the fringed, feathered, and fabulous things you can get your hands on: it’s carnival time!
What do we mean by Carnival of Colour?
Our Carnival of Colour theme covers everything from traditional street carnivals to the fanfare of circus and cabaret. If it’s offbeat and eccentric, we’re here for it. Let your creativity run wild and see where it takes you. The only limit is your imagination (of course keeping it respectful cough – Adelle – cough).
What shall I wear for my fancy dress?
Make a statement – why go big, when you can go BIGGER. The more vibrant and eclectic, the better! Here’s some prompts that may help your ideas flow:
- Accessories galore – neck ruffs, head dresses, bowties, crowns, fancy gloves, masks, hats and wigs.
- Make it super fancy – feathers, sequins, ribbons, pom poms and tassels.
- Go anywhere with the theme – traditional carnivals, such as Rio, Venice, New Orleans and the Caribbean, circus couture and steampunk travelling fairs.
- Wear whatever you’re comfortable in – tie-dye tops, show-stopping party dresses, jumpsuits with enormous shoulder pads, onesies, crazy coloured suits and outlandish shirts.
